Plett Game Reserve is home to some very rare animals

Plettenberg Game Reserve has an array of different wild animals.
The sought after Black Impala and the Golden Wildebeest are two of these.

The Black Impala, found in very few places in Africa, is an extremely rare type. A recessive gene causes the black colouration in these animals.

Golden Wildebeest, or better described as Palamino coloured, fall in the same category as white lions, king cheetah and black impala, which are not separate species, but colour variants of the common lion, cheetah or impala. The colour variation on the golden wildebeest can be described to a recessive gene, which carries the blueprint for the animal’s colour.

These animals are both extremely rare.
