All year-round good weather

Did you know that Plettenberg Bay has one of the most temperate climates in the world?  The weather is suitable for game viewing all year round. During mid-summer temperatures average about 26 ÂșC by day. Winter temperatures are moderately cooler during the day but warm enough to enjoy the outdoors.

Apart from being comfortable for guests, the weather also makes for great game viewing as it is not so hot that the animals have to hide away in shady bushes.  The roam around quite frequently and almost every game drive sees as great variety of game.

Plett Game Reserve: Guest Review

“Very relaxing and excellent”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 11, 2012 NEW
We arrived at the lodge and were given 2 rooms to the right of the main lodge, simply beautiful and so lodge style, nothing to do with these luxury sterile rooms we stay all over the world, it was rustic, spotless clean, and just relaxing. Huge king side bed, pre-heated electric blanket bed, wild bathroom!, open shower, centre bathtub.
The ladies running the property were very accommodating, friendly and attentive, asking if we wanted tea or coffee, made sure the fire places were on when you came back ( it was a little bit chilly the first night outside, great though next to the fireplace.
Food was well prepared and good. (I don't expect to eat Michelin style on a game safari lodge.)
Wildlife right next to the lodge (rhinos on the second day)
Game ride interesting with a good guide, the lion cage is kind of strange, either add some cats or close this part of the trip. The "safari" truck was too big and too noisy; the horseback ride on the second day was much more fun and closer to nature. Everybody can do it!!! Just walking!

Our own Royal babies......Blue Crane chicks on the way!

South Africa's national bird, the Blue Crane has decided to make a home at Plettenberg Bay Game Reserve.  The couple were spotted making a home on the island just outside the Shed.  They have 2 eggs and have made a beautiful nest in the safety of the island.  They take 30 days to incubate and when the babies are born, it will take 3 to 5 months before they fly.  Their breeding season is between September and February.  Watch this space for pics of the newborn chicks in the next few weeks.

PBGR: Sabrina Love Ocean Challenge

Natalie du Toit at a previous event showing her support!
We here at Plettenberg Bay Game Resere love to support local charities, and the Sabrina Love Foundation has become one very special charity!

This event looks to be a big hit, just as it has in the previous years - so please come and show your support!

Sabrina Love Ocean Challenge is presented by Stonehage and Discovery.
Without doubt this has become Plett's leading sports event – The Sabrina is more than just a sports event – it has become the main fundraiser for the Sabrina Love Foundation which assists kids with special needs in the Bitou region. Every cent of your entry fee is channelled directly into the fund.
Plett in December with the Festive Season in full swing has a vibe second to none. There is something for everyone at the Sabrina Love, from the ultra fit ocean swimmers, to those looking for a gentle walk along the beach. Your options include the 10 km Road Run, 15 km Surfski Challenge, 6 km Ocean Swim, Kids Of Steel Duathlon and if this is not enough try the Lake Swim, Trail Run, Triathlon or the 25 km Mountain Bike on the second day at Kurland Estate.

DATE: 28th & 29th Decemer 2012

PAWS Street Collection

Please Help Us
PAWS is hosting their next Street Collection on Friday, 30 November 2012. If you are willing, they are looking for volunteers to help with this event.

Contact Di Butlin on 082 569 2571 if you're able to help out.

These last two months, we've shown a lot of interest in helping out PAWS - this is because not all animals are lucky enough to be afforded an entire game reserve to live out their lives, in peace and with protection.

We hope you showed your support, and made a difference!

PBGR: Horse Safari's - You've never done anything like it!

Your most memorable African experience will be a horseback safari at Plettenberg Bay Game Reserve.

There is no better way to view the game which, accustomed to the presence of the horses, will allow them within very close range.
On horseback you can go where vehicles have no access and are free to roam with the game or track them down.

Feel the grass and bush brush past you, breathe in the fresh air around you and listen to the sounds of Africa.

On the two-hour horse safari guests are accompanied by an experienced and knowledgeable game ranger, keen to share his insight with you.
Our horses are well-schooled and friendly and will provide a comfortable, easy ride for even the most inexperienced riders.

After the safari, relax at the bar with a drink and share your experiences!
Horse safaris at Plettenberg Bay Game Reserve are open to day visitors and are scheduled daily at 10h00 and 15h00, weather permitting.

Guest Review - Out of Africa style; Great Atmosphere

A very good location: 15min by car from Plett but it already feels like being in the wild. The lodge is decorated with very good taste and elegance. The fireplaces, sofas and astonishing views are an invitation to relax and unite with nature. The included 2 hour safari tour is fantastic although the reserve is not amongst the biggest.
Last but not least: children are welcome (ours was 6) and the rooms are spacious.
Definitely a place where to stay!
Stayed October 2012

Thanks Stephanie Swiss! We're very glad that you had such a great time, and we hope you'll be coming back soon!
