Going Green

We are working hard to reduce our carbon footprint and 300 palm and fig trees are getting planted around the shed.  Trees naturally remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere during the state of photosynthesis.  They store gas in the branches, trunks, leaves, etc. instead of the gas to becoming free floating and further polluting the atmosphere. In this natural function alone, trees directly reduce the growth of the Greenhouse Effect and counteract Global Warming.

We will be continue on our work to keep Green.

Heatwave hits Giraffes

The unexpected heatwave that hit the Cape was unbelievable! Plettenberg Bay Game Reserve's grass became very dry with the hot weather the last two months.

The giraffes got some extra nourishment with lucern that we placed high up for them. They were regularly sighted near the shed for shade. The visitors really admired the sight of the tall necked animals.

The sky finally became dark on 23 January and some drops of rain arrived. The smell of the rain was refreshing like nothing on earth.

Bush Ball at Plettenberg Bay Game Reserve

Plettenberg Game Reserve had a very busy December with many guests taking part in the on-site activities.
Our biggest event of the month was the Bush Ball held on 21st December.  The ball was in aid of Nippers which is the Plettenberg Bay Life saving unit. It was a great success and Shannon from Followspot professional entertainers kept the 120 people entertained all evening.  The food was delicious and the music had everyone partying to the early hours.  Much later in the evening, the moon came out and the field in front of the shed was filled with animals drinking and coming to see what the noise was about.

Only in Africa and only at Plett Game Lodge do you see such beautiful sights!

Below are some pics of the event.
